Red Sentinel Astilbe.
Part shade to full shade lover, this Astilbe thrives in organically rich, evenly moist, well-drained soils. Don't let the soil dry out! Mulch should be added to reduce water evaporation and maintain moisture.
Appearance
Height & Spread: Typically 18–24 inches tall, reaching up to 30 inches (75 cm) with flowers; spread 18–24 inches.
Foliage: Deep green, divided leaves with a glossy sheen; in spring, foliage may be tinged with dark red.
Flowers: Dense, pyramidal or airy plumes of scarlet-red blooms in late spring to early summer.
Maintenance
Watering: Requires consistently moist soil; drought tolerance is poor; foliage will brown if dry.
Pruning: No deadheading needed; cut stems to ground level in late winter if desired.

Ideal for shady borders, woodland gardens, cottage gardens, and pond/stream banks.
Excellent ground cover or edging plant in shaded areas.
