Cercis c. 'Pink Heartbreaker'

A tough but beautiful variety of our North America native Redbud tree, 'Pink Heartbreaker' is a superior weeping selection in many ways. A faster grower than other weeping cultivars, at 10 to 12 feet tall and 8 to 10 feet wide its larger size makes for a more impressive specimen in medium to larger size landscape spaces. It has stronger weeping branches that become covered in vibrant rosy lavender-pink flowers before the foliage emerges in spring. Immediately following the spring bloom, the new leaves emerge in a copper color transitioning to richer dark green. They have the typical large heart-shape of the species but hang downward along the weeping stems for a calming waterfall effect. Highly adaptable, heat and cold tolerant (-20F), and easy-to-grow in most any well-drained soil and sun or partial shade, Pink Heartbreaker is a spectacular specimen around patios and other outdoor sitting and living spaces where its flowers, foliage and form can be enjoyed from close up.
