Itea virginica ‘Little Henry’ (also called Virginia Sweetspire, Tassel-white, or Virginia Willow) is a compact, deciduous shrub and a dwarf cultivar of the native Itea virginica. It is valued for its three-season interest, pollinator appeal, and versatile landscape use.
Appearance and Growth
Size: Typically 2–3 feet tall and wide, with a mounded, rounded habit.
Habit: Deciduous, with arching branches and dense foliage.
Foliage: Oval, dark green leaves that turn brilliant shades of orange, red, and yellow in fall, with the most vibrant color in full sun.
Flowers: Late spring to early summer, producing creamy-white, lightly fragrant, bottlebrush-like spikes (racemes) that droop on arching branches. The blooms open from the base upward, creating a “fireworks” effect.
Fragrance: Lightly scented, attracting bees, butterflies, and moths
